Bubble tea, tea houses, Asian bakeries and dessert shops in this group are usually walk-in, counter-order businesses with a menu board overhead listing sweetness and ice levels you can adjust when ordering. Standard bubble tea customization includes sugar level (0-100%), ice level, and a choice of toppings like boba pearls, pudding or jelly, usually at a small extra charge. Asian bakeries sell items individually with tongs and a tray, cafeteria-style, rather than pre-boxed, and pastries are typically less sweet than Western bakery items. Lines build up quickly after school and in the evening, especially near colleges. Most of these businesses accept cards and mobile pay and skew younger in clientele and atmosphere.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 8 am–6 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Los Altos is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Los Altos is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This is one of our go-to spots for cakes whenever we are in the area. Their cakes are delicious, with subtle flavors and a light sweetness. Both the Strawberry shortcake and Earl Grey cakes are great, and the service is friendly and quick. They are a bit expensive, though.

Last year, we ordered a customized cake for our daughter’s one year old birthday. They made a mistake - to be fair, the look was cute but the flavor was the regular strawberry one instead of the one we ordered. Satura refunded us $60 fee which was the difference with a regular dome chick cake. We wanted to give it another try this year, so we emailed them to order the same cake. When I mentioned the credit, they told me they need to check with managers. After waiting for two days, they told me no, credit cannot be applied to cake order. No exceptions to the policy. Satura didn’t tell me this limitation last year when they offered the credit. It was their mistake but they didn’t try to make it right for their customers. I don’t see they care about their customers. Don’t order here. There are places that respect their customers.

FOOD: My yuzu cake slice was tasty and well-packed and had a lovely varied texture (with a great crunch at the bottom!), but a bit one-note in flavor; could have used a bit more tart 'bite'. It was also pretty modestly-sized for the price ($10+tip). SERVICE: Service was perfunctory and unenthused. I felt neither welcomed nor unwelcome. Without intending offense, this is exactly the sort of store where replacing the staff with literal robots or a vending machine would not change the service dynamics one iota and might even help bring down costs.

A mainstay in Lo’s Altos but people drive in from all over the Bay for their light and creative cakes. The Classic Chocolate is unmissable; the Soufflé cheesecake is airy but flavourful; Mango & Coco is refreshing. They also do some-shaped cartoon style whole cakes; always pre-order online for whole cakes as same-day stock sells out quickly Not as renowned for their bread and pastry but I’ve always loved their line up of brioches

I tried the croissant and the raspberry donut, and both were excellent in their own way. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and well laminated. You can tell it is made properly. Crisp on the outside, soft and airy inside, and not greasy. It had that light crunch when you bite into it, which is exactly what you want in a good croissant. The raspberry donut was a pleasant surprise. Soft, fresh, and not overly sweet. The raspberry filling tasted real, slightly tart, and balanced the sugar well. It did not feel heavy or artificial like many filled donuts do. You could easily eat more than one without feeling overwhelmed. Looking at the pastry case, everything is very well presented. From the savory items like spinach feta and leek parmesan pastries to the desserts and cakes, it is clear they put effort into both quality and appearance. This is the kind of place where you want to come back and slowly try different things each visit. Service was smooth and efficient, and the space is clean and modern. It does get busy, which is always a good sign. Overall, Satura Cakes lives up to its reputation.
